The Cotswold village of Poulton in Gloucestershire is situated mid way between Cirencester and Fairford on the A417 London road. The village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book under the record of Poltone in Wiltshire. It remained a Wiltshire island encircled by Gloucestershire for almost 1000 years until 1844 when it was finally designated by Parliament as part of Gloucestershire. (source: Parish Council Website)
