Claydon is located 5 miles north of Banbury at the northern tip of Oxfordshire. The village is believed to have existed for over 900 years. Approximately 300 people currently live in the village. The village is within the parish of Claydon with Clattercote, with local government services provided by Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council.

The main transport link is the nearby A423 Southam Road, giving easy access to the M40 motorway.  A bus service runs once daily to/from Banbury.
